“MAKE ME NOT A WOMAN. THEN, YOU WILL HAVE GIVEN ME EVERYTHING”
DROUGHT is sonic-poetry. A song-story for women.
It challenges narratives in which women are subject to violence at the hands of male redemption, to interrupt the canon of violence against women in storytelling, which in turn perpetuates violence against women in our physical world.
We visit the ancient mythology of 'Caenis' to expose and illuminate the canon of violence entrenched in our mythological worlds. Kate then uses vibrant poetic imagery to re-tell, re-frame and fragment this mechanism, allowing for new mythologies to migrate their way in, including original storytelling to introduce the positive female protagonist into our cultural landscape.
Using cinematic landscapes, sonic live soundscaping and original contemporary poetry, Drought is a 'new religion'.
We must speak the love we deserve.
It is time to end- this
